over at citi, but i would be happy if i were a shareholder. the stock went up on the news. never easy to change your mind. something we're asking of our politicians, they can't do that. but citigroup's management was willing to take the hard medicine for the shareholders. we hear endless negativity about china and europe, but the chinese market last night, it was a gigantic move signifying what might be the beginning of a new growth phase. have you checked european stocks lately? smoke show. hey, even i can get too gloomy. i've been critical of bank of america for its unfathomable top dollar acquisitions, including the ill-timed merrill lynch purchase and the ridiculous countrywide buy. i've chided these guys as being one gigantic law firm with a bank attached. that's how much their earnings have been dependent upon legal obligations. and that's what cuts them. bank of america led the dow today, broke out above $10. a level hasn't been seen in ages as the unsold homes dwindles, i think it probably goes higher. here's the bottom line, listen to me, go ahead, be gloomy, you have every r

toward really slimming down citi by the new ceo. he has a quote in here saying these actions are logical next steps in citi's transformation and says they're committed to strategy that continues to leverage in the global banking market. if you go through the list of where these jobs are actually coming from, institutional clients group which is investment banking a quarter of the job cuts are going to come from there. my 2013 predictions i said that group would slim down by half. interesting that they are cutting a big chunk of that group. global consumer banking is responsible for 35% of the cuts and then going on through the other business lines like citi holdings, those are responsible for smaller portion of those jobs. citi getting smaller. a billion dollars going to be the pretax charge in the fourth quarter of next year. 11,000 jobs a big move from the new ceo over there. carl? >> all right. thank you very much, kayla. we're reading through the release right now ourselves. big strategic move. >> how many people work at this bank? i feel like they've been firing forever. citi did no

. they combined to mark martin vicksburg but it was clear that the city, the batteries could not be taken without support of army troops. and general halleck who was the army commander of the theater, i like to call him general can't be done, told farragut asked if he could spare some of his 100,000 troops to help a railroad junction, to capture vicksburg. and how it said can't be done. don't have enough troops. and the level of the river was dropping so much, the union naval forces and the army troops were there, only 3000, were all getting sick. so the union forces actually gave up the effort to capture vicksburg in the summer of 1862 because the navy would help them do. which came somewhat as a surprise to note in public because the flotilla at that time, the navy had been doing a lot of things all by itself without any army support. they've captured -- they captured of port royal bay in november 1861. all without any army support at all. but clearly that run of success was going to come to an end. the confederates have now figured out some ways to carry the war to the union forces itself. the

-suicide that has stunned pro-football. the kansas city chief players and fans warning after the linebacker belcher shot his girlfriend to death and then killed himself. there is so much more to this story. now we are hearing from both sides from both families for the first time. it all happened on saturday morning. somebody reporting a shooting at the home that belcher shared with his girlfriend. >> early 20s female. she has been shot about three or four times one in the chest, one in the neck and one in the abdomen. >> shepard: she was cassandra perkins, belcher's girlfriend and mother of his daughter. she died at the hospital. 10 minutes later as police -- after they responded to that shooting, they say they arrived at arrowhead stadium where the chiefs play. the team's general manager and the coach reportedly just gotten a call to head out to the parking lot and they say when they got there they came face to face with their player, belcher. he had a gun in his hand. he pointed it at his head. police say people were pleading with him don't do it. don't pull the trigger. >> we got two coaches, on

with warmer than average temperatures than most. winter out there in new york city. we were talking about 70 degree temperatures a couple days ago in chicago. 53 dallas. 56 phoenix. 59 los angeles. beginning to feel a little like christmas. looking at your satellite radar image ray no major systems impacting the country. we did have that big storm system, several storm systems impacting the west. that will dry out bringing moisture into the upper midwest and great lakes. light in nature but that's not r50e67ing the ground. the at that time terne is changing. warmer than average temperatures the fence keeps the cold air bottled up in canada and we see the warm air with the high pressure. the cold air will sink the fence gets broken a little bit and moves southward. the cold canadian air pamass moving into the rockies and midwest. the temperatures not getting out of the 40 degree range. a quick look across the country if you are traveling today. not too much to tell you about looking good boston through los angeles. no major storm system effecting the country. we will take that. >> janice dean
